Get to know Tom - personal

I entered this world on the 18 June 1965. I now live in a large house-community in South-Stuttgart, Germany. In university I studied computer science and linguistics (theory of language) and sat for "too long" in front of a Macintosh and other computers. With the years I ripened enough to realize that these things are only good tools when one can put them away fast.

What are nice things? For example long trips without fixed endings; the preferred direction being Japan and Korea - partially alone. En route with slow transportation, without pressure, not permanently on the lookout for sights, enlightment, or playing the role of the clever backpacker.

Baroque music can likewise be nice, my favourite composers are Telemann, Vivaldi, Bach, Buxtehude, Albinoni. And there is drum music from Northeast Asia, live if possible! What a pity it can so seldom be heard in Europe. People connect drum music more with African culture, not with northeast Asia.

Good cuisine is my all-time hobby, and my housemates act as thankful guinea pigs. On the table are good things of all descriptions, among them a lot of Swabian specialities (the regional cruisine in southwest Germany). Enjoyed together with wine - everything fits and is good. You will find here some favourite recipes with drink recommendations.

Up to now I have lived without a car (in the city of Porsche and Daimler-Benz, where the inventors of motor automobiles are born :-), but with two bicycles. Everyone who knows the high hills of Stuttgart, knows what this means...

jumping ballThe only thing of value in life? Just living, experiencing the moment. Every moment of life wants to be lived just like it is, with sincerity, perspective, and without dwelling nonstop on its complexities.

Ideologies, except my own (grin), political correctness, the tube, blaring wisdom, do not warm me up. Standing still is retrogression. Migraine in the morning ist hell.
